Purpose: To serve as a resource for the Meeting community in spirit-led financial stewardship, combining Quaker process and values with sound accounting practice for both transparency and the ethical use of resources.


Specific activities include:

Prepare an annual operating budget for approval of the Monthly Meeting each May, based on the needs of our local, regional and yearly meeting. Help members and attenders understand the financial operations of the Meeting.

In concert with the Assistant Clerk of the Meeting in his/her stewardship role, develop and implement a strategic program for soliciting contributions from members and regular attenders to support the annual budget; evaluate its success.

Review the financial operations of the Monthly Meeting at least quarterly, and make a report to the Meeting. Serve as facilitators for other committees to improve overall accountability for Meeting resources.

Appoint an auditor who is a member of the Religious Society of Friends to make an independent report of the condition and accuracy of the Treasurer’s records to the Monthly Meeting annually.

Provide support to the Treasurer in carrying out his/her responsibilities. Provide a liaison to Trustees on financial concerns. The Clerk (or Assistant Clerk) of Finance serves as Assistant Treasurer for signatory powers in banking.
