Hiroshima Maidens
From CS-Quakers
After World War II, Summit Meeting undertook housing and support for two "Hiroshima Maidens" while they underwent plastic surgery for their burn injuries, sustained during the A-bombing of their country.
Two items in the meeting house – the beaded Japanese character for the word “Peace” on the greeting table and the Japanese painting that used to hang to the side of the meeting-room entrance were given as gifts by the “Hiroshima Maidens”.
